The Town of New London regulates the use of fireworks and certain other activities around Pleasant Lake. Knowing the rules helps keep the lake community safe and respectful of neighbors.
Permissible Fireworks
Town of New London Ordinance - Adopted March 2023 (RSA 160-C:6)
PLPA discourages the use of personal fireworks launched over the lake.

No alternate rain dates
If weather is bad, fireworks are not permitted on a different day.
Hours
10:00 AM - 10:00 PM only, except New Year's Eve when displays are permitted until 12:30 AM.
Age
Fireworks may not be ignited or possessed by anyone under 21.
Licensed shows
Permitted separately when a NH-licensed operator is running the show for the general public, the New London Fire Department is present, and a local permit has been issued.
Septic Ordinance
Proper septic system maintenance is a core part of protecting Pleasant Lake water quality. The Town of New London requires regular septic system pumping and sets additional standards for system care in the watershed.

Beyond noise and safety, fireworks introduce chemicals and particulate matter into the watershed. Small particles of toxic metals and perchlorates can contaminate the lake water and affect wildlife.
